Celebrating Our Brand-New Detroit Branch On Woodward Avenue

Words by Abbie Dyer on Jul 1, 2019 3:58:40 PM

Positive vibes are driving the Motor City into a new era. Small businesses are opening their doors, major sports and music events are happening each week, and more Michiganders are moving to the city to help drive this change. We wanted to do our part to help continue the momentum of this positive growth. So we’re expanding our footprint in Detroit. On Monday, June 24, we opened the doors to our new branch on Woodward Avenue for the first time.

Located at 6505 Woodward Avenue, our new branch is just blocks away from the Fisher Theatre and the Taubman Center at the College for Creative Studies. We’re excited to be part of this vibrant and artistic community and look forward to getting to know our new neighbors. Most of all, however, we’re looking forward to having a new space to help our members.

A New Style That’s Worth Your While

Our Woodward branch offers state-of-the-art technology and a welcoming atmosphere fueled by a few new faces on Team Lake Trust. The open-concept floor plan adds to this relaxed atmosphere and symbolizes our dedication to transparency during our interactions with Lake Trust members. Outside the branch, a new 24-hour walk-up ATM is available to help our members after hours.

A Piece of History

Our new home has a past deeply rooted in the history of the financial services industry. The building previously served as the home of Dime Savings Bank, which operated a branch within the New Center neighborhood from 1899 to 1928. During building renovations, we found some old bell covers that used to live in the old bank and decided to reuse them as lighting sconces.

To pay homage to the city that has warmly welcomed us, we incorporated several other nods to the past in the design of the new Lake Trust branch. We repurposed old windows from the iconic Cadillac Stamping Plant. And the wood on a table in the branch was reclaimed from the Cadillac and Packard Stamping Plants.

The new Lake Trust Woodward branch is open Monday thru Thursday from 9 AM-5:30 PM, Friday from 9 AM- 6 PM, and on Saturday from 9 AM-1 PM. Paid parking is available in front of the branch on Woodward Avenue and in the lot behind the building. Or you can find free street parking right around the corner on E. Milwaukee Avenue.

We hope to continue to foster a spirit of togetherness and connectivity in Detroit through our volunteer efforts and business services that help support local businesses. After all, our new home isn’t just a new beginning for us; it’s a new chapter in the story of downtown Detroit.
