Words by Abbie Dyer on Mar 29, 2016 4:28:00 PM

The thought of staycations, lonely nights at home and your favorite things being cut back or taken away is enough to drive anyone away from starting a budget. But this negative thinking is where so many of us fail at Budgeting 101. You don't have to take extreme measures to save money, just make small lifestyle changes. If sticking to a budget is hard, you might be doing it wrong.

Think of a healthy budget like a healthy diet: You have to have a realistic goal that motivates you, but you also have to leave a little room to reward yourself. If you don't, you're more likely to indulge in something expensive or bad for you. A successful budget is all about finding a balance between your goal and the things you enjoy.
