Your home is more than just four walls. It’s a place where you relax at the end of a long day. It’s a source of comfort. And it’s the backdrop of countless memories you’ve formed with friends and family. To help more people experience the power of home, we continued our home loan giveback program in 2023 and recently distributed a donation as a result of these efforts.
At Lake Trust, we believe in creating a world in which everyone thrives. To do this, we look for opportunities to give back and make an impact through our work, our products, and the services we provide. To advance our mission, we created the home loan giveback program in 2019. Through this ongoing effort, a $100 donation was made for every mortgage or refinance our members applied for during the program period and later closed on through our partners at Mortgage Center. In addition, $50 was donated every time a member closed on a home equity loan with Lake Trust.
By simply choosing Lake Trust and Mortgage Center for their home loan needs, our members made it possible to donate $37,518 to Haven Homes of Detroit, our 2023 home loan giveback recipient.
Supporting The Community
Haven Homes of Detroit provides essential services and secure housing for women who have escaped human trafficking or those who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation. To help, residents of the nonprofit receive support in the form of case management, life skills training, financial literacy classes, job development training, education assistance, medical assistance, mental health services, and legal support to help them heal and move forward.
Haven Homes also purchases and renovates homes in Detroit to provide rent-free housing to women for up to two years in a safe, secure, community setting. Their first home opened in January 2023 and the nonprofit recently purchased a second home to be able to support and house three more women in need.

Donation Impact
Our donation to Haven Homes of Detroit is enough to provide 84 days of staff support, transportation, food, housing, and essential services for each of the four residents at the nonprofit. This donation is greatly appreciated, as Haven Homes is currently working on fundraising efforts to pay for the renovation of their recently purchased second home. The Power of Working Together
Together, we can make a greater impact in our communities. To date, our members have made it possible to donate over $260,000 to 21 nonprofits in Michigan through the home loan giveback program. By simply working together, we’ve helped provide stable housing and housing assistance to those in need. We’ve helped individuals and families get back on their feet as they overcome financial or situational challenges. And together, we’ve helped people find the true meaning of home. That’s the power in all of us.
